Service #: 1934 Alphonsus J. Brake was born in 1895 in Marystown, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. He served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from August 6th, 1915 to April 25th, 1919. He was discharged with the rank of Corporal. BRAKE, John T. Service #: 2937 John T. Brake was born on November 10th, 1892 at Marystown, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland Labrador. He served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from July 2nd, 1916 to April 25th, 1919. He was wounded and spent some time in hospital. He was discharged on April 25th, 1919. He passed away on May 30th, 1948 in Marystown, Newfoundland. BROWN, David Service #: 1319 David Brown was born on December 3rd, 1892 in Tilton, Newfoundland. He served with the Newfoundland Regiment from March 8th, 1915 to March 26th, 1919. He passed away on July 2nd, 1939. BRADLEY, Arthur Athelstan Service #: 5234 Arthur Athelstan Bradley was born on January 29th, 1899 in Salvage Bay on the Eastport Peninsula of Newfoundland. He served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from May 21st, 1918 to January 23rd, 1919. He passed away on March 16th, 1984.

The Newfoundland Division of the Canadian Corps of Commissionaires was started in Newfoundland in 1949 with 5 employees. We now employ over 250 members and gross over 5 million dollars per year. As a non-profit company we return over $0.95 of every revenue dollar to our members. The Newfoundland Division is a member of the nationwide Canadian Corps of Commissionaires. He served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from 1914 to 1918. He was wounded at Beaumont Hamel on 1st July 1916 and was laid to rest in Mount Hope Cemetery in Toronto. COOPER, Charles Charles Cooper was born on October 15th, 1890 in Little Ridge, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. He served with the Royal Naval Reserve from 1913 to 1985. He passed away on May 13th, 1985. CRANE, John Charles John Charles Crane was born in March 1899 in Tilton, Conception Bay, Newfoundland. He served with the Army from 1914 to 1918. He passed away on September 29th, 1918. DOWN, William Service #: 2249 William Down served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment in World War I. He was a member of Grand Falls Branch # 12 of The Royal Canadian Legion. FARRELL, Celestine Service #: 1721 Celestine Farrell was born on December 24th, 1891 at Little Bay, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland. He served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from July 24th, 1915 at the age of 23 years. He was one of the few that answered the Roll Call at Beaumont Hamel on 1st July 1916. He was discharged on June 24th, 1919. He passed away on February 22nd, 1978.

He served with the British Expeditionary Force/Royal Newfoundland Regiment from May 11th, 1917 to July 6th, 1919. He was a member of Centennial Branch # 61 of The Royal Canadian Legion. He passed away on September 16th, 1981. HARRIS, Chester, Dr. Chester Harris was born in Grand Bank, Fortune Bay, Newfoundland in 1887. In 1916 he enlisted with the Royal Medical Corps. During his service in the branch of the Armed Service he was awarded the Military Cross. Dr. Harris returned to Newfoundland in 1924 and took up residence in Marystown were he served for 40 years. He is deceased. HARRIS, Gordon A. Service #: 2669 Gordon Harris served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from 1914 to 1916. HOOPER, George Sr. George Hooper was born in Rock Harbour, Placentia Bay, Newfoundland on January 15th, 1899. He enlisted with the Royal Navy from 1914, he was 15 years of age. During his service he survived several sinkings. He was known as White Birch George. He passed away in 1988 at Rock Harbour. IVANY, Albert IVANY, John J. Service #: 3976 Service #: 1155 (Photo: Left) Albert Ivany was born in English Harbour, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. He, along with his brother John, served with the Royal Newfoundland Regiment. He served with the 1st Battalion of the Royal Newfoundland Regiment from January 1915 to July 18th, 1916. He was killed as a result of wounds in the Battle of the Somme on 1st July 1916. He was wounded in the throat and taken Prisoner at the Battle of Monchy on April 14th, 1917. He was taken to Douai Hospital. He passed away on May 7th, 1917 and is buried at Douai in the same grave as a soldier in the Essex Regiment and alongside five other Newfoundlanders. VERGE, Abram J. Service #: 1925 – Draft Abram J. Verge was born in Winterton, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland on November 12th, 1890. He enlisted in the Royal Newfoundland Regiment while he was attending Bishop Field College to further his education on October 22nd, 1915. On April 14th, 1917 he was taken Prisoner of War at the battle of “Monchy Le Preux”. He was disabled and honourably discharged on April 2nd, 1919. He passed away on August 4th, 1970. VOKEY, Henry Thomas Service #: 2397X Henry Vokey was born in Little Harbour, Newfoundland on 13th June, 1897. He served with the Royal Naval Reserve. He passed away on July 15th, 1968. Rev. WELLS, George Anderson Rev. Wells was born in Clarke’s Beach, Newfoundland in 1878. He served with NPAM from 1898 to 1901; Boer War, 2nd Canadian Mounted Rifles 1901 – 1902; World War One Chaplain Corps 1914 – 1919; Canadian Army (M) 1920 – 1929 and RNCVR (Chaplain) 1943 – 1946. He passed away in 1958. WISCOMBE, James William Service #: 2495X James William Wiscombe was born in Creston South, Marystown, Newfoundland on January 2nd, 1900. Service #: 970469 Sgt. Arthur Jackman was born on October 31th, 1915. He served with the 166th Newfoundland Field Regiment. He served in the UK, Africa and Italy. He was a member of Grand Falls Branch # 12 of The Royal Canadian Legion. He passed away on September 30th, 2005. JANES, Robert J. Service #: JX208945 Robert J. Janes was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland on December 26th, 1917. He served with the Royal Navy from June, 1940 to October 1st, 1946. He is a member of Grand Falls Branch # 12 of The Royal Canadian Legion. LANNON, William Joseph Service #: NFD339808 William Joseph Lannon was born in 1916. He served with the Royal Air Force , 125 Squadron from 1940 to 1945. He is a past president of Grand Falls Branch # 12 of The Royal Canadian Legion (1957 - 1958) and a Past Vice President of Newfoundland Labrador Command (1959-1962). He passed away in 1984.
