The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 247 KERR, Peter WWI Peter was born on September 3, 1873 in Kirkcaldy, Scotland. He was a barber by trade when he came to Canada, then he enlisted in the Army in Saskatoon, SK on March 16, 1916 and served with the 96th Battalion. After his discharge, he lived and worked in Viscount, SK and continued in his trade of barbering. He also enjoyed playing pool. He had a brother, Thomas, who lived in Sutherland in 1916. Peter has passed away. KERR, Richard Coates WWI Richard was born in 1879 in Belfast, Northern Ireland and immigrated with his wife, Annie, and his children to a farm in Shannonview, Saskatchewan in 1926. He served in the Royal Irish Rifles of the British Army during World War I. Richard passed away on January 23, 1959 and is interred in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Melfort, SK. KERR, William George “Bill” WWII Bill was born in Beauséjour, MB but moved with the family to the homestead at Viscount, SK. His dad, William Sr., also owned the old Victoria Hotel. He joined the Army and served during World War II. Bill raised five children with his wife, Nell Madill, and they retired to Kelowna, BC.
