The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 245 KELLINGTON, William WWI William was born on December 23, 1895 in Uxbridge, ON, the son of James Henry and Julia Alice (Middleton) Kellington. He went west to join his older brother who had homesteaded in Saskatchewan. On May 28, 1918, he enrolled in Regina, SK as a Private in the Saskatchewan Regiment and served in the Depot Battalion until September 20, 1918. He married Mildred DeVore from Nebraska in October 1918 in Francis, SK and they went to Peoria, Illinois with their Saskatchewan-born daughter in about 1920. William died on May 25, 1984 in Wyoming, Illinois. KERR, Albert WWII Albert was born on June 13, 1923 in Newtownards, Northern Ireland and came with his parents, Richard and Annie (Ballantyne) Kerr, and his siblings to a homestead at Shannonview, SK in 1926. He enlisted in the Canadian Army (Active) in Regina, SK in 1943 and served in Britain, Italy and Northwest Europe with the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. He and Stella Kellington married on March 25, 1950 in Virginiatown, ON and they had three children, Deborah, Gregory and Jay. Albert’s twin brother, Gordon, also served overseas in the Canadian Army. Albert passed away on January 29, 2003 in Manitouwadge, ON. KERR, Gordon WWII Gordon was born June 13, 1923 in Newtownards, Northern Ireland and came with his parents, Richard and Annie (Ballantyne) Kerr, and his siblings to a homestead in Shannonview, SK in 1926. He enlisted as a Private in the Canadian Army (Active) in Regina, SK on January 5, 1943. He went overseas with the Lorne Scots (Peel, Dufferin and Halton Regiment) and served in Britain, Italy and Northwest Europe. His twin brother, Albert, also served overseas in the Canadian Army. Gordon was released in Regina on November 8, 1945. He and Dorothy Olds married in Pathlow, SK on October 20, 1947 and they had three children, Paulette, Gilbert and Candyce. Gordon passed away on July 9, 2006 in Manitouwadge, ON. He was a Life Member of RCL F. Evan Hill Branch 242 in Manitouwadge.
