The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 87 COFFEY, George Edward Nelson WWII George was born in Carlyle, SK. He enlisted with the RCAF on November 26, 1942 and served as a Transport Driver and Stretcher Bearer. He was honorably discharged in April of 1946, after having been decorated with the following medals: CVSM and Clasp, France and Germany Star, Geo VI Defence Medal, Queen Elizabeth Service Medal, and the Special Service Medal. George joined the Reserve Forces in 1946 and served until 1951. He re-enlisted in August of 1951 under the #38415 where he trained as a Radar Technician. In 1952, he re-mustered to Communications and served in Germany and Canada. He was discharged in 1973 as an “Applied Science Technologist.” George passed away in January of 2003. COFFEY, James Henry WWII Jim was born in Carlyle, SK. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942. He served on the HMCS Saskatchewan, which was one of four destroyers that took part in an outstanding Naval engagement in the English Channel off the coast of France one month after D-Day against the enemy. Three large enemy armed trawlers were sunk and a fourth was believed to have been hit. Jim was honorably discharged in October of 1954. COMEAULT, Alfred Edward WWI Alfred was born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA, in 1895. He joined the First Depot Battalion Saskatchewan Regiment. He passed away in 1972. COLBOW, Frederick John WWII John was born on a farm in R.M. of Norton on November 9, 1916 and enlisted with the Regina Rifles on November 2, 1942 and served in Canada. He was discharged on November 13, 1945. He returned to farm on his father’s homestead for fifty years. Frederick passed away on July 1, 1945.
