The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 85 CLAUSEN, Ejgil Thomas WWII Ejgil was born in Haslund, Denmark, in 1924. He enlisted in the Army on June 6, 1941, in Saskatoon, SK, and took training in Huntington, QC, and Camp Borden, ON. In 1943, he requested to be sent overseas and reverted to Trooper and was posted to the South Alberta Regiment upon arriving in England. He saw action in Normandy, up through France, Belgium and Holland to Oldenburg, Germany. He was discharged on October 29, 1945, and received the 1939-45 Star, the France-Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Medal with Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45, the Liberation Medal from the Dutch City of Bergen-Op-Zoom, and the “Thank You” Medal from the Dutch Embassy in Ottawa. CLOSE, Stanley W. WWII Stanley was born in Parkside, SK, in 1909. He joined the Prince Albert North Battleford Volunteers and took his training at the west coast until his medical discharge in 1944. He passed away in 2002. COFFEY, Cameron Francis Jeremiah “Frank” WWII Frank joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1942. He received his pilot training at Dauphin, MB. He changed to Air Crew and had a brief tour in England. He was discharged in 1945. Frank trained as a Fire Fighter after the war. He rejoined and was stationed in Regina and Winnipeg from 1952-1958. He was then posted to Penhold, AB from 1958-1960, then Sea Island as Fire Chief from 1961-1964. He served as Fire Chief in Comox, AB until 1970 when he was discharged with the rank of Warrant Officer. He worked as a Commissionaire and was a Lighthouse Keeper. Frank passed away on July 19, 1997. COCHRANE, Lorne WWII & KOREA Lorne was born in Eyebrow, SK on September 8, 1925 and joined the Canadian Army and is a veteran of WWII and later joined for service in the Korean War. He married Sterling Lease on April 4, 1945 and raised six children. They live in London, Ontario. He was a brakeman on the railway. Lorne is now retired.
