The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 71 BURGESS, George W. WWII George enlisted on July 14, 1942 in the Army and served in Canada under instruction at Prince Albert, SK, Farnham, QC, Hamilton and Kingston (Barriefield), Ontario. While in England, George served with the 1st Canadian Ordinance Workshop as Armourer. In Holland, he served with the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade Workshop and the New Brunswick Rangers also as Armourer and was discharged on March 8, 1946, when he returned to civilian life. He received the following decorations: the France-Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the 1939-45 War Medal. BURMEISTER, Henry Christian WWII Henry was born in Skabick Jutland, Denmark in 1902 and enlisted with the O.C. # 43 Provost Company in the Canadian Provost Corps on October 2, 1941, serving in Canada. Henry was discharged on August 30, 1946 and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He belonged to the Earl Grey Legion for 42 years being an active member for 38 of those years. In 1972, Henry was given a Life Membership. He passed away on September 4, 1988. CAMERON, Eoin WWII Eoin was born on June 23, 1915 in Carlyle, SK. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1943. He trained as a Wireless Mechanic and served in this capacity in various places within Canada until he was honorably discharged in 1946. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Carlyle Branch #248. Eoin passed away on January 2, 2001. BYBLOW, John WWII John was born in the Springside area on May 31, 1921. He enlisted in the Army as a Gunner on December 9, 1942 and served in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He was discharged on April 26, 1946 and returned to Springside, where he married Rose Chiman, and they ran a farm. John received the Dutch Medal in 2003. He still resides on a farm near Springside.
