The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 61 BOOKER, Donald Elroy WWII Donald was born in Hanley, SK, in 1923. He joined the Army and served in Canada, England and France with the 8th RECCE Regiment, 14th Canadian Lighthorse. He was wounded in the attack for the Falaise Gap and had his right leg amputated. He returned to England for treatment and therapy and then to Toronto, Ontario, in November 1944 for further therapy. Donald passed away in 2002. BOYLE, Sarah Jane WWII Sarah Jane was born in Canwood, Saskatchewan, in 1918. She served the Army as a Lieutenant Nursing Sister in England. She passed away in 1978. BRADSHAW, James Douglas Haig “Jim” WWII Jim was born in Moose Jaw, SK on January 16, 1917 and grew up in the Milden-Rosetown area. He joined the Army Medical Corp and served in Canada and England during WWII. Upon his discharge, he took up pharmacy at the University of Saskatchewan. In 1948, he moved to Herbert, SK and spent 21 years in a drug store there, along with his wife, Toni, and their three children. He retired to Saskatoon and finally Elbow, SK. Jim passed away in 1994. BRAATEN, Arthur Selvin WWII Arthur was one of eleven children born to Oliver and May (Stevenson) Braaten of the Waitville District. He was born at home on the farm in Birch Hills, SK on November 11, 1923. Arthur attended Tiger Hills School. When he was called up for service, he and his friend, Arnold Ganes, left together for Saskatoon and joined the RCAF. He was stationed at Edmonton, Brandon and was at Gimli, Manitoba when the war ended. He married and they had four children and lived in Victoria, BC. Arthur passed away on August 4, 1998.
