The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 53 BESSIE, Charles WWI Charles was born in Canada in 1896 and joined the 1st Depot Battalion on May 21, 1918 and served in Canada and England. He was discharged on June 15, 1919 and received the Victory Medal. Charles joined the Earl Grey Branch #137 on June 7, 1930. BETSKAL, Michael WWII Michael was born in Hafford on November 11, 1918 and enlisted with the Canadian Army on July 24, 1941 and was discharged on March 9, 1946, after serving in Canada and the UK. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France-Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the CVSM with Clasp. He farmed in the Hafford area and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Michael passed away on May 25, 1991. BINNIE, James Angus WWI James was born in Canada in 1896 and joined the 46th Battalion on March 15, 1915 serving in France. He received a gun shot wound to the left knee at Vimy Ridge. BINKLEY, Doug WWII Doug was born in April 1923. After graduating in 1941, he joined the Air Force. He received his wings in 1942 and was posted overseas and flew with # 6 RCAF Bomber Command until near the end of the war. He came home to Canada, and graduated from the College of Pharmacy in 1950. The horrors of the war were with him his entire life. Doug passed away on March 9, 2009.
