The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 375 YOUNG, Martin WWII Martin, son of Richard Victor and Emily Caroline Young, was born in Brancepeth, SK, in 1922. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment and served in England and Europe. He was killed in action on September 24, 1944, and is buried at Bergen-Op-Zoom Canadian War Cemetery, Netherlands. ZELENSKI, William WWII William was born in Prince Albert in 1917. He enlisted in the Army in Calgary in November 1939. In July, he sailed to Aldershot, England, and was promoted to Bombardier, assigned to the 2nd Div. - 20th Anti-Tank Battery. In 1942, he took part in the raid on Dieppe. In July 1944, he was involved in the invasion of Normandy, and in Holland on October 26, he ran into German tanks, and his right leg had been blown off below the knee. He spent ten days in a tent hospital, before going back to Canada. Bill married Jean Ellchuck on February 3, 1945, and they raised a family of one boy and two girls. He was a member of The Legion for 54 years, before he passed away in 1998. He received the Defence Medal, War Medal 1939-45, CVSM, 1939-45 Star, and the France-Germany Star. ZENTNER, Kenneth PEACETIME Kenneth was born on December 31, 1935. He enlisted in the Air Force on April 16, 1953, and was discharged on May 15, 1976. Kenneth trained in radar and finance in peacetime service. He received the CD and Clasp. He currently resides in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. ZENTNER, Albert H. WWII Albert was born in Langenburg, SK, in 1917. He joined the 70th Field Battery on June 19, 1941, serving in Canada, the United Kingdom, and Continental Europe. He was discharged on January 26, 1946. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the 1939-45 Star, the France-Germany Star, and the Defence Medal. Albert passed away on August 12, 1981, in Russell, Manitoba.
