He joined the 69th Heavy Transport in 1940 and served in England, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and Switzerland. He returned home on the Queen Elizabeth in 1945. He passed away in 2002. TKACHUK, Cameron SPECIAL AREA DUTY & PEACETIME Cameron was born in Hafford, SK, on February 23, 1970. He enlisted in February 1998 and served in Algonguin and the Gulf teaching training venture. He received the Gulf Medal and was discharged in January 2008 for medical reasons. He passed away on August 31, 2008. TOMECEK, John Edward WWII John was born in Glenside, SK, on November 28, 1919. He enlisted in the Army in Regina on March 12, 1942, as a private with the Prince Albert Volunteers and Moose Jaw Kings Own Rifles Regiment. He took six weeks of basic training and was accepted in the military band as a bandsman. He was appointed as bandmaster acting Lance Sergeant with pay during the last year of his service in Canada. He was discharged in February 1946. He received the CVSM and has been a member of Kerrobert Branch #88 for 41 years. TOFFAN, Elizabeth Alice WWII Elizabeth was born in Saskatoon, SK, on March 22, 1925. He enlisted as a WREN in October 1943, and served in Canada. She was discharged in December 1945, and married John H. Duncan and lived in Leask, SK. She received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Elizabeth passed away on November 12, 2002.
