The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 333 THOVESON, Thomas H. KOREA Thomas was born in Lintlaw, SK, in 1929. He joined the Princess Patricia Canadian Light Infantry and served in Korea. He passed away in 1952. TILSLEY, Clarence WWII Clarence was born in Birch Hills in 1914, son of Richard and Elsie (Clafton) Tilsley. A sister, Dorothy, was born in 1916, Glen in 1917, Bill in 1919, and Jim in 1922. Clarence started school and later worked as the janitor at 25 cents a day. In 1940, he enlisted in the Army and came home in 1945, and then re-enlisted for the Japanese War. The sudden surrender of the Japanese allowed Clarence to come home for harvest leave and then was discharged in 1945. He married Myrtle Holland in 1946, and was employed at the provincial jail until his retirement. Clarence and Myrtle had five daughters and one son. TILSLEY, James WWII James was born in Birch Hills, SK, in 1922. He joined the 6th Canadian AntiTank Regiment (RCA) and served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. After V.E. Day, he enlisted to go to the Japanese theatre of war, and returned to Canada in the Fall of 1945. The war ended when the Japanese surrendered. James passed away in 1981. TILSLEY, Glen WWII Glen was born in Birch Hills in 1917, son of Richard and Elsie (Clafton) Tilsley. He and his three brothers and one sister all attended New England School, and all took their turns being the janitor. All four boys enlisted in the Army. Glen enlisted in 1943, but because of poor eyesight, he could not serve overseas, therefore, stayed in Canada. He was discharged in 1945, and Glen married Audrey Chapman and moved to Port Alberni, BC, working for McMillam Bloedel. They had five daughters and four sons.
