The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 313 SPENST, Henry WWII Henry was born in Russia in 1922. He joined the 2nd Signal Corps and served in Canada, Great Britain, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He has been a member of the Turtleford Legion Branch #128 for 62 years. SPRIGGS, Herbert WWII Herbert was born in Duck Lake, SK, on March 23, 1920. He enlisted in the Armed Forces on April 19, 1943, and served overseas as a cook from 1943 to September 18, 1946. Upon his discharge, he resumed his occupation of meat cutter and butcher. He passed away on September 18, 1987. He was a member of the Leask Legion Branch #179 for 37 years. STEADMAN, George Harry WWI George was born in Ontario in 1892. He enlisted with the 195th Battalion on March 21, 1916, leaving behind a wife and six children. He served in France and was discharged on March 21, 1919, and received the Service Medal. He joined the Earl Grey Branch on June 7, 1930. SPURGEON, Michael MERCHANT NAVY Michael was born in Luton, England, on March 2, 1944. He served with unpropor as Deputy Sector Chief of Civpol in the former Yugoslavia and in Topusco Headquarters from June 1993 to July 1994. His duties involved coordinating the operational policing component for Sector North and their mandate was to monitor the activities of the Serbian Police. The police monitors in the sector came from 19 different nations. These monitors were stationed at 8 to 10 different detachments, depending on the conditions at the time. He served 2 to six months back to back. Following his mission he returned to continue his service with the RCMP and came to appreciate the country he called home and the quality of life we enjoy in Canada.
