He enlisted with the Canadian Army on February 4, 1943, and served in Canada until his discharge in March of 1946. He was a member of Carlyle Branch #248 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 42 years. Oscar passed away on August 12, 1988. SCHILLER, Ferdinand WWII Ferdinand was born in Tyvan, SK, on March 30, 1922. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment on November 14, 1942, serving in the UK and Continental Europe. He was wounded with shrapnel in the back and was discharged on January 7, 1946. He received the 1939-45 Star, the FranceGermany Star, the Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Ferdinand passed away on May 11, 1995. SCOTT, Joseph Henry WWI Joseph was born in Leeds, England, on September 25, 1892, emigrated to Canada in 1910 at age 18, and worked on a farm in Ontario for three years. He enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Forces at Prince Albert on March 6, 1916, at age 23, and served in Canada, France and England with the 46th Battalion. He was discharged on June 10, 1919, at age 26, with the rank of Lance Corporal. He received the British War Medal and Victory Medal. He returned to homestead and married Rosa Kampa on March 5, 1930. They raised three children. Joseph passed away at age 66 on December 3, 1958. SCHLICHEMEYER, Henry WWII Henry was born in Rosthern, SK, on January 27, 1921. He enlisted with the Regina Rifles on February 3, 1943, serving in Canada, England and Germany. He was discharged on December 25, 1945, and farmed in the Wandsworth district, where he raised his family of five until they moved to Leask, SK. Henry passed away on March 8, 2000.
