The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 283 ROBIN, Auguste WWII Auguste was born in Carlton, SK, on July 22, 1919. He enlisted with the 5 B. R. Squadron in July 1941, and served in Canada and Newfoundland before being discharged in July 1945. ROBINSON, Jesse WWI & WWII Jesse was born in 1884 in Berkshire, England, and immigrated to Canada in 1910, settling in Birch Hills, SK. His wife, Rose, and daughter, Queenie, followed in 1913. His sons, Stan and Reg, were born in Birch Hills. Jesse enlisted in the Army in 1915, and came back in 1918 to run the Fenton Ferry for the summer. He moved back to Birch Hills to work and raise his family. He re-enlisted in WWII and became a Veteran Guard. Rose passed away in 1953, and and in 1963, Jesse moved to live in the Veterans Home in Saskatoon, where he passed away in 1979. Jesse and Rose are buried in the Birch Hills Cemetery. RODGER, William Stewart WWII Stewart was born in Maple Creek, SK, on August 26, 1912. At age 31, he was considered too old for service overseas by the Canadian authorities. He was one of the 600+ Canadian officers loaned to the British Army. He landed on the beach in France on D-Day and continued through the European campaign and into the occupation of Berlin. He was proud and pleased to serve with the 2nd Battalion Devonshire Regiment and with Brigade Headquarters, both of the 7th Armoured Division (Desert Rats). He enlisted in May 1942, and was discharged on January 11, 1946. Stewart passed away on May 21, 1986. ROBINSON, Reginald WWII Reg was born in 1915 in Birch Hills, SK, and enlisted in the RCAF in 1938 and took his training in Eastern Canada spending some time in England. He came back to Canada and was posted to several stations in Eastern Canada. Reg decided to stay in the service, and in 1955, spent three years in France, coming back to Trenton and retiring there. Reg and Helena had two sons and two daughters. He passed away in 1979.
