The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 241 MOORE, James WWI James was born in Ireland in 1890 and enlisted in the Royal Innes Fusiliers on August 4, 1914, and served in France. While there, James received a gunshot wound to his left ankle and shrapnel wounds to his left hip. He was discharged in March 1917, and received the 1914-15 Star, the General Service Medal and the Victory Medal. He joined the Earl Grey Branch on June 7, 1930. MOORE, Thomas Wendell WWII Thomas was born in Saskatchewan in January 1920. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1942, serving in Canada and was discharged in 1945. He came home to farm at Speers, SK, and was active in 4H. He retired in North Battleford, SK, and passed away on November 6, 1996. MORASH, Howard Herbert WWII Howard was born in Prince Albert, SK, in 1922. He joined the Canadian Engineers and served in Canada. He passed away in 2001. MOORE, Wesley James “Wes” WWII Wes was born on November 7, 1915. He married Elsie Hodgson on January 7, 1938. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps and served the UK and Continental Europe. He drove a supply truck in France and Germany. He narrowly escaped death when he was standing near a truck, talking with others, then walked away, when a shell landed near the truck, killing the men near the truck. Wes rose in rank to Lance Corporal, and was discharged in July 1945. Elsie and their two oldest sons, Ron and Dale, had moved to Manor, so Wes made his home there doing various jobs. He worked in the Post Office with Aubrey Beatty whom he succeeded as Post Master. They also raised two more children: Perry born in 1950, and Michelle in 1956. Wes passed away on July 19,1994.
