He had three other brothers in World War II: Ira, Gilbert and George. They were the sons of William and Margaret McWilliams. Gilbert and Ira were killed in action in World War II, and their photos are all in the local Legion Branch #122 club rooms. He joined the Canadian Scottish Regiment, serving in England and France. He was killed in action on August 15, 1944, at age 19, and is buried at Brettville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery, Calvados, France. Ira was the brother of Sandy, George, Clifford, and Gilbert, who was killed in action in Sicily during World War II. They were the sons of William and Margaret McWilliams. MCWILLIAMS, Gilbert WWII Gilbert was born in 1921. He joined the Royal Edmonton Regiment and served in England, Sicily and Italy. He was killed in action in Sicily on August 5, 1943, at age 22, and is buried at Agira Canadian War Cemetery near Regalbuto, Sicily, Italy. Gilbert was the brother of George, Clifford, Sandy, and Ira, all sons of William and Margaret McWilliams. Gilbert’s brother, Ira, was also killed in action in France during World War II.
