The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 229 MCDONALD, Alexander Edward WWI Alexander was born in Newcastle-on-Tyne, England, on June 7, 1889, and immigrated to Saskatoon, SK, in 1912 to work as a linotype operator on the “Daily Star” newspaper. He enlisted with the 5th (Western Calvary) Battalion as a driver on August 15, 1914, and served in Canada, England and France. He was discharged on May 9, 1919, and passed away in Saskatoon on July 6, 1933. MCKEEN, Ronald WWII Ronald was born in Speers in 1917. He enlisted in the Army in 1943, serving in Canada, the UK, Italy, and Holland. He was discharged in 1943, and was a Life Member of The Legion. He received the Defence Medal and the European Medal. Ronald passed away on July 23, 2000. MCLEAN, Malcolm Silliman “Mac” WWII Mac was born in Regina, SK, on June 26, 1914. He enlisted in the Air Force on July 24, 1940, serving in Canada and England. He was discharged on June 12, 1945, and received the 1939-43 Star Ribbon, the Volunteer Medal and Clasp, the War Medal 1939-44, the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star, the France-Germany Clasp, and the 1945-76 Flying/Farming. Mac passed away on October 7, 1976. MCKIM, Robert Kenneth WWII Robert was born in Riceton, SK, on October 9, 1923. He enlisted in the Army on January 30, 1943, serving in the UK, Continental Europe, and the Central Mediterranean Area. After the war, he was billeted in Holland with a local family. He was discharged on February 14, 1946, and farmed in the Riceton and Milestone areas. Robert passed away on August 22, 2002.
