The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 217 LONGNECK, Felix WWII Felix was born in Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, SK, on December 27, 1903. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Engineers on May 16, 1941, serving in Canada. He was discharged on September 12, 1941, and received the War Medal 1939-45. He passed away in 1976. LOVBERG, Leif Ole WWII Leif was born in Canwood, SK, in 1913. He joined the Navy and served on many ships, including HMCS Cornwallis, Stadacona, Avalon, Peregrine, Niobe, Ferret and Unicorn. While on HMCS Edmundston, he passed the auxiliary machinery watch keeper course. On June 6, upon entry to the Navy, he was Stoker 1st Class. On January 15, 1944, he advanced to Leading Stoker. On the application for War Service Gratuity, his final ranking rating was Ldg. Sto. from June 8, 1944 to October 5, 1945. Leif received the Canadian Voluntary Service Medal with Emblem, the 1939-45 Star, the War Medal 1939-45 and the Atlantic Star. He passed away in 1993. LUTZKO, Henry WWII Henry was born in Goodeve, SK, on November 12, 1928. He joined the Regina Regiment, Royal Canadian Infantry Corps serving in Canada and France. He passed away on August 16, 1944. LOWE, James Ernest WWII James was born in Birch Hills, SK, in 1909. He joined the Army in 1940 and trained in Saskatoon and Camp Shilo. He was shipped overseas to England in 1941, being based there until June 1944, and participating in the Normandy landings. He also served in France, Holland and Germany. He received a citation from his commanding officer for efforts in repairing damaged tanks during the German offensive in December of 1944. He returned home in August 1945 and farmed in the Birch Hills area until his passing in 1995.
