The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 211 LEWIS, Joe WWII Joe was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA, in 1897. He enlisted in WWI and came back to farm. He moved to Birch Hills in the 1920’s and worked around town at repairs, painting, and doing odd jobs. During WWI, Joe worked at the P.A. Airport. He never married, passed away in 1964, and is buried in the Veteran’s Plot at the Birch Hills Cemetery. LIEBAERT, August Francis WWII Francis was born in Mayfair, SK, in October 1919. He joined the Army as a gunner in 1941, serving in Canada. He was discharged in 1944, and returned to farm in the Mayfair area. He passed away on November 22, 1991. LINDSKOG (GARNEAU), Thelma Marie PEACETIME Thelma was born in Prince Albert, SK, on October 12, 1936. She joined the Army as a clerk typist, serving in Canada. She has been a member of the Birch Hills Branch #122 for 32 years. LINDSKOG, Ronald Ferdinand PEACETIME Ronald was born in Bagley, SK, on December 31, 1936. He joined the Army as an air craft refinisher, serving in Canada, with his rank of Sergeant. He passed away on October 22, 2005. He was a member of the Birch Hills Branch #122 for 30 years.
