The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 195 KENDALL, Joseph WWII Joseph was born on the family farm east of Macrorie, SK, on December 30, 1925. He enlisted in the RCNVR in 1943 and trained and served on HMCS Unicorn, HMCS Discovery, HMCS Cornwallis and HMCS Stadacona in the DEMS Division as gunner in the South Pacific. For a while, he worked on the SS Mohawk Park out of Vancouver. He toured Australia, New Zealand and South America. Joe was discharged on November 21, 1945, as Able Seaman. He came back to Macrorie, where he helped his family farm and raised his family. He passed away on March 21, 2000. He was a very active member of his local Legion and was presented with a gold signet ring. KENNEDY, Beverly M. PEACETIME Beverly was born in Shellbrook, SK. She joined the Canadian Forces as a Nursing Officer in December 1974. She served for 20 years and retired with the rank of Major. Bev was stationed on many bases throughout Canada and held various positions, including Flight Nurse, Base Nurse and Recruiting Officer. She was discharged in January 1995 and received the Queen’s Silver Jubilee Medal for meritorious service and the Canadian Forces Medal for longtime service. She resides in St Albert, Alberta. KINDRACHUK, Dymtro F. WWII Dymtro was born at St. Julian, SK, on August 13, 1915. He joined the Army in 1942, training in Regina and then shipped overseas to serve in Italy among other postings until 1945. Upon his return, he resumed farming and in November 1946, he married Stella Feduniw and they were blessed with one daughter and three sons. They farmed 6 miles north of Wakaw for a number of years, then sold the farm and moved to Prince Albert, gaining employment with Mann Motors until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, puttering around his garage, and collecting and selling scrap metal. He passed away in 1989, at age 73, and rests in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Prince Albert. KERGOAT, Jean-Pierre “Peter” WWII Peter was born in Plonevez-Porzay, France in 1909 and joined the Saskatoon Light Infantry from 1939-46. After being dispatched to the UK, he served on the frontlines in Italy and Sicily and was part of the Canadian Forces involved with the liberation of Holland. Peter wears the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star and the France-Germany Star. After the war, he settled and raised a family in North Battleford, SK. He passed away in 2004. He was a member of the SK Hosp. N. Branch #349 for 59 years.
