The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 179 HUARD, Clifford WWII Clifford was born in Lashburn, SK, in 1923, and around 1935, his family moved to Stump Lake, SK, where his folks had a homestead. He joined the Army in 1940 and then transferred to Paratroopers training in Benning, Georgia, USA. He went overseas and was killed on his first jump over Germany in 1944. Clifford is buried overseas. HUGHES, Patrick John WWII Patrick was born in Lloydminster, SK, on June 3, 1919. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Engineers Corps on February 21, 1941, serving in the UK and Continental Europe. He was discharged on December 5, 1945, and received the CVSM and Clasp, the 1939-45 Star, the France-Germany Star, and the Defence Medal. Following his discharge, he returned to the land and took up farming, got married and had a family of four. Patrick passed away on August 17, 1987. HUNTER, Murray Leroy WWII Murray was born in Eatonia, SK, on August 31, 1924.He enlisted with the 1st Hussars 2nd Division on November 30, 1942, and served in the UK and Continental Europe. Murray received a “wound strip” following a direct hit on the tank he was driving. He was discharged on February 28, 1946, and stayed on after the war, driving transport trucks in Holland. He passed away on April 7, 2008. He was a member of the Ogema #67 Branch for 55 years. HUNTER, David Orr WWII David was born in Saskatchewan in 1920. He enlisted in September 1941 with the Army #12 District Depot, serving in Canada and England. He was discharged on March 15, 1946, and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. David passed away in 2003. He was a member of the Earl Grey #137 Branch.
