The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 173 HONIG, Vincent Paul WWII Vincent was born in Klintonel, SK, on December 18, 1920. He joined the Air Force with the 418th City of Edmonton Squadron on April 22, 1941, serving in Canada, the UK, France, Belgium and Germany. He was discharged on September 19, 1945. Vincent passed away on May 26, 1995. HOOD, Floyd Stanley WWII Floyd was born in Kelliher, SK, on October 2, 1922. He enlisted in the Army on April 1, 1941. He was killed by accident on the firing range at Camp Borden, ON, on June 16, 1943. His parents posthumously received a Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Hood Creek in Northern Saskatchewan is named after him. HORLEY, Louis BOER WAR & WWI Louis was born in England and served in the Boer War in New Zealand and South Africa. He came to Canada in 1904 and settled in Saskatchewan. When war broke out, he enlisted with the Winnipeg Rifles 144th Battalion in 1918. He was 44 years old when he was issued his medal. Little is known of Louis and his family, except that he married and had children and lived around Waitville. HOOD, Kenneth William WWII Kenneth was born in Homestead, north of Ituna, SK, on October 12, 1916. He joined the Army and served from 1939-1945 in France, Italy, Germany and Africa. He was wounded while in Africa. He received the Italy Star 1939-45, the France-Germany Star 1939-45, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, plus Overseas Bar 1939-45. After returning from the war, he farmed in the Kelliher area. Kenneth passed away on August 8, 1995.
