The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 15 ANDREWS, Robert William WWII Robert was born in Eureka, Montana on February 2, 1920. He enlisted with the Army on August 2, 1940 and served with the 21st Army Group, 17th Field Regiment in Europe until his discharge on October 10, 1945. He received six medals: Canadian Volunteer Medal with Clasp, 1939-1945 Star, Italian Star, France-Germany Star, 1939-1945 War Medal, and the Defense Medal. He also received a citation from Field Marshall B. L. Montgomery for service and devotion to duty in N.E. Europe. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #248 for 62 years before he passed away on October 28, 2006. ANGUS, Leonard Lynn WWII Leonard was born in the Merridale district, north of Roblin, MB, on July 21, 1918. He joined the Winnipeg Dragoons and South Alberta Regiment, the 29th Canadian Army RECCE Regiment on July 16, 1941, and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, and France. He prevented the escape of two German forces from the Falaise Gap together with other Allied Forces. In 1945, he married Joyce in England, returned home to Canada in January 1946, and was discharged on February 22, 1946. Joyce followed in July of that year. He received the CVSM & Clasp, the 1939-45 Medal, the Defence Medal, the France-Germany Star and the 1939-45 Star. They raised six children, and farmed from 1947 to 1958. Leonard did carpentry work until 1967, and then worked at a Potash Mine near Langenburg. APLAND, Harry Gordon WWII Harry was born in Marchwell, SK, on February 19, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Engineers, 22nd Field Coy on May 25, 1942, and went overseas in April 1943 and took part in the invasion of Europe in June 1944. He met his wife, Jesse, at Dundee, Scotland, and they married in 1945. Harry returned to Canada in September 1945, and Jesse followed in June 1946. He was discharged on November 16, 1945. He and Jesse raised five children and he worked with the Department of Highways in Dryden, ON, before retiring. He received the CBVSM & Clasp, the Defence Medal, the 1939-45 War Medal, and the France-Germany Star. ANHOLT, Harry Raymond WWII Raymond was born in 1919 in Outlook, SK. He enlisted with the Army and served with the 7th Canadian Army Field Regiment Platoon R.C.A.S.C. 87th Artillery COY C.A.D. He was injured and hospitalized, then transferred to #3 Canadian Tipper Platoon R.C.A.S.C. He went overseas in 1943 and returned home in 1946. He served in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He married Lois Preus in 1947 and they had six children. Raymond passed away in 1994.
