The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 165 HEIMARK, Harry WWII Harry was born in Beechy, SK, on October 4, 1923. At age 20, he joined the Canadian Armed Forces with the 48th Highlanders of Canada, serving overseas from 1943-1945. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, as well as the War Medal. Upon his arrival back to Canada, Harry attended the University of Regina, where he obtained his Civil Engineer Bachelor of Science Degree. He was a master in city planning and worked for the City of Regina. Harry was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, and he spent his last remaining years in the Veteran’s Hospital in Edmonton, AB. He passed away on September 13, 1988, after a courageous battle with cancer. Harry has been laid to rest with his parents in the Collin’s Cemetery. He will always be loved and remembered. HENRICKS, Peder M. WWII Peder was born in Outlook, SK, on March 6, 1921. He joined the 1st Battalion, Saskatoon Light Infantry, serving in the Italian Campaign for the liberation of Holland. He married Dorothy E. Warton in London on May 22, 1945, and had two children, Judith E. Hammond (nee Henricks), born June 5, 1948, and Paul M. Henricks, born December 8, 1951, both born in Saskatoon, SK. Peder was wounded in action on May 23, 1944, and received the Defence Medal, the Star of Italy, the 1939-45 Star, and the France-Germany Medal. Peder passed away on March 17, 2005. HERDMAN, Charles John Kent WWI Charles was born in Toronto, York County, in 1894. He joined the C.E.F. 68th Battalion and served in England and France. In 1917, he was wounded at Vimy Ridge and lost his right hand. He passed away in 1953. HENRY, Robert Nelson WWII Henry was born in Wolverine, SK, on July 31, 1920. He enlisted in the Air Force on November 1, 1940, and served in Canada. He spent 58 months as an air frame mechanic, after training at Saskatoon, Toronto, St. Thomas Tech, St. Thomas, ON. He was stationed at Dauphin, Manitoba for four years. After the war, he helped to close out three stations. Upon his discharge on October 20, 1945, he returned to farming for 62 years. Henry passed away on February 27, 2008.
