The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 151 HALDANE, Donald Edward WWII Donald was born in Canwood, SK, in 1917. He joined the ROTC while studying at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon for a degree in mechnical engineering. He was shipped overseas in 1942 and lost a finger. He passed away in Victoria, BC, on December 6, 1989. HALL, Percy Fairbanks WWI Percy was born in Newcastle, England, in 1980. He served the Canadian Army with the Canadian Engineers, 6th Field Company. He is a member of the Earl Grey Branch #137. HAMPSON, John R. WWII John was born in Prince Albert, SK, on October 3, 1924. He joined the Prince Albert Volunteer Service Army in 1942 and then transferred to the RCAF, training in Regina. He went overseas in 1944 and was stationed in Yorkshire, England, for the rest of the war with the European Occupation Forces, and was discharged in 1946. John passed away in 2006. HAMILTON, Boyd Nelson WWII Boyd was born on August 2, 1922, at Tisdale, SK. He enlisted in the Navy on February 11, 1944, and was assigned an engine room artificer course. He completed ART APP courses at HMCS “NADEN,” “HUNTER” and “CORNWALLIS,” and was discharged on January 22, 1946. In 1947, he married Elsie Hamilton and they moved to Key West, Florida, where he became an electrician and worked 15 years at building houses. Boyd wrote volumes of stories about their lives and world adventures. His books are available in Tisdale, Saskatoon, Regina and Key West libraries. Boyd passed away on January 19, 2002.
