The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 147 GREYEYES, William Richard WWII William was born in Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, SK, on January 26, 1912. He joined the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps on July 24, 1940, serving in Canada, Britain and Northwest Europe. He was discharged on January 8, 1946, and received the 1939-45 Star, the Defence Medal, the FranceGermany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, and the War Medal 1939-45. William passed away in 1987. GRIFFIN, William Howard WWII William came with his parents, Jack and Violet Griffin, in the 1930’s to a farm at Crystal Springs. He joined the Armed Forces, first with the Prince Albert Battleford Volunteers, and then he joined active in 1940 with the Saskatoon Light Infantry, serving with the 4th Division. In 1941, he served in Holland, France, Belgium and Germany. He married a Dutch girl in Holland, named Hendricka. He received his discharge in 1946, and returned to Canada to farm through the Veterans Land Act. Hendricka joined him and they raised a family of five sons and three daughters. William passed away on July 8, 1981, and was buried at Luseland, SK. GROTHEIM (CAMPBELL), Marion J. PEACETIME Marion was born in Saskatoon, SK, in 1935. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in April 1956 in the Medical Corps and spent her service career in Eastern Canada, except for three years in France. For her service, she was awarded a special service medal (CD) and a NATO Bar. She was discharged in December of 1969 with the rank of Corporal. GRINDLE, Clifford WWII Clifford was born in Macrorie, SK, in 1922 and joined the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He was killed in Holland in 1944 and is buried in Bergen OP. Zoom Cemetery.
