The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 135 GIBBONS, Gwynne WWII Gwynne was born in Elbow, SK, in 1924 and joined the CWAC as an Office Clerk and served in Brussels, Belgium. GILES, Ancil Ward WWII Ancil was born in Prince Albert, SK, on April 6, 1925. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force on November 3, 1942 at the age of 18, and took his basic training at Three Rivers. He also received training in armaments at Grimby Air Force base in Manitoba. He was sent to Darlington, England, to join Bomber Squadron #419. He travelled on the ship Empress of Scotland and his duties consisted of loading bombs on airplanes for air strikes over Germany. After eleven months overseas, Ward became ill and was sent home on the Queen Mary. He was discharged on September 9, 1943. GISLASON, Oscar S. WWII Oscar was born in Leslie, SK, on July 9, 1918. He joined the Army and served in Barriefield, Brockville and Peterborough, Ontario. He is a member of the Coronach Branch #268. GILPIN, Marion PEACETIME Marion was born in Islay, Alberta, in 1923, daughter of Herbert and Annie Gilpin. After completing high school, Marion trained as a nurse in the Vegreville General Hospital. She was in the RCAF from 1950 to 1955, and married Bill Bigras in 1962, moving to Bitch Hills. They had one son, Douglas, who died in 1988. Marion retired from nursing in 1979. Her husband, Bill, passed away, and Marion now resides in the Birchview Nursing Home.
