He joined the Queens Own Cameron Highlanders of Canada on August 28, 1941, and served in Canada, Kiska in the Aleutian Islands, England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. Norvald had the privilege of playing an important role in the movie “Commandos Strike at Dawn,” which was filmed close to Victoria, BC. He received his discharge on January 24, 1946. FLAMEND, John WWI John was born in Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, SK, and joined the 232nd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force on June 8, 1916. He was discharged on June 1, 1917. FLINT, William “Bill” WWII Bill was born in Speers, SK, on September 26, 1921. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 as an aero engine mechanic serving in Yorton, Rivers, and Gimli in Canada. He was discharged in 1946 and retired to farming in Speers, SK. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Bill passed away on February 20, 2007. FLINT, Donald “Spike” WWII Donald was born in Speers, SK, and enlisted in the Army and Air Force in 1941 as a wireless air gunner, and served in Canada. He was discharged in 1945 and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal.
