The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 117 FAGRIE, Mervil WWII Mervil was born in Brancepeth, SK, in 1923 and joined the Snowy Owl Squadron #420 of the Air Force serving in England and North Africa. He returned to farming in the Birch Hills area after the war. FAGRIE, Olaf WWII Olaf was born in Norway in 1901. He joined the Canadian Army serving overseas and England. His brother, Harold, was killed overseas in France in 1944. FALUDI, Sander “Fugi” PEACETIME Fugi was born in Budapest, Hungary, in 1952 and came to Canada in 1963. He joined the Canadian Armed Forces in Hamilton in 1971 and trained in Cornwallis. He then to Gagetown, NB, to serve as infantry with the 3PPCLI in Esquimalt, BC. He served on two tours with the UN in Egypt (UNEFME) and in Cyprus (UNFICYP). Fugi qualified as a mountaineer, packer-rigger, bomb disposal and numerous courses throughout his military career. He met his wife-to-be, Christine, in Chilliwack and later married. After his service in the military, Fugi went on to work for Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting in Flin Flon for 15 years. In 1995, he and Christine and their four daughters moved to Delisle, SK, to establish their own business. FAGRIE, Robert WWII Robert was born in Brancepeth, SK, in 1917. He joined the Canadian Army and served overseas in England and France. His brother, Alfred, served with the Canadian Army in WWII in Canada, and his brother, Frank, served with the Home Guard. Robert passed away in 1978.
