The Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command LEST WE FORGET 105 DUNBAR, Fraser Mclean “Mac” WWII Fraser was born in North Portal, SK in 1909. He signed up for WWII and served in the #1 General Hospital in England, Italy, France, Belgium and Holland. While still in Holland, he was posted at Nijmegen and met his wife-to-be, Jane, and was married in 1946. Mac left Holland for Canada and Jane followed a short time later. Mac passed away in 2007. DUNCAN, John Harry WWII John was born in Avebury, SK on February 12, 1918 and enlisted in the Army on February 20, 1941, serving in Canada, the UK and Continental Europe. He was discharged on January 9, 1946. He was married to Alice Toffan and lived and farmed in Leask, SK. John received the 1939-45 Star, the FranceGermany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He passed away on November 26, 1993. DUNKERLEY, Edward Arthur WWII Edward was born in 1903 in Lancashire, England. When war was declared, he joined the regular Army and served as Company Sgt. Major with the South Saskatchewan Regiment. He took part in the ill-fated Dieppe Raid and was wounded severely in the hip and leg by tracer fire and was left unfit for active service. He was discharged in 1942 and returned to his farm and family. He was a member of Carlyle Branch #248 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Edward passed away on April 23, 2004. DUNCAN, William Walter WWII William was born in Avebury, SK on January 12, 1920 and enlisted with the RCAF 303 Squadron (RAF), 38 Squadron (RAF) and the 162 Squadron (RAF), serving in Canada, England and the Middle East. He was married to Lucy Cutiing. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Africa Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, the Wear Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. William passed away on February 16, 1944.
