Lest We Forget / 61 The Royal Canadian Legion Prince Edward Island Command MUNN, Daniel WWII Daniel was born in Hopefield, Prince Edward Island in 1914 to Ira and Sarah Munn. He joined the 2nd Medium Battery of the Army and served in Canada, the United Kingdom, Sicily, Italy, France, Holland, Belgium, and Germany. Daniel was awarded the 1939-45 Star, the Defence Medal, the Italy Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the France and Germany Star, the 1939-45 War Medal and the General Service Badge. He was married to Winifred. He was a member of Montague Legion Branch 8 for over 20 years. Daniel passed away in 1981. MORRISSEY, Edward B. WWI & WWII Edward was born in Milburn on February 18, 1898 to William and Margaret (Hughes) Morrissey. His property is now owned by Ward James. He enlisted in the 1st Depot, 105th Battalion, Canadian Expeditionary Forces in 1914. After his discharge in 1918, Edward returned to Milburn. He received the British War Medal 1914-18 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. When the Second World War broke out in 1939 Edward enlisted. For service during this war he received the 1939-45 War Medal. After his discharge in 1945, Edward moved to Dartmouth where he died on January 18, 1958. MORRISON, Joseph C. “Joe” WWI Joe was born in St. Peter’s Bay, Prince Edward Island, in 1883 to Angus Morrison and Mary Wilson. The house is now owned by Gladys Lewis. He enlisted in the 105th Regiment of the Canadian Expeditionary Forces in 1916 and was sent overseas. After his discharge, he returned to PEI and with his wife, Mattie Carr, took up residence in the Reggie Lewis home and later moved to the Old Bill MacKinnon homestead. Joe died suddenly while returning from thrashing in the fall of 1944 and is buried at the St. Peter’s Bay Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
