McKENNA, Joseph Alphonsus WWII Joseph was born in Pownal, Prince Edward Island on November 24, 1922. He was the son of Peter and Bridget Ann Curran McKenna. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Navy on May 15, 1941 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island and was given the rank of Ordinary Seaman. Joseph was killed in action on August 19, 1942 at Dieppe, Normandy, France from a gunshot wound to the chest while manning a machine gun on a boat attempting to rescue survivors of a boat that was sunk. He is buried in the Newhaven Cemetery in Sussex, England. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a Leading Aircraftman in Queen Charlotte Islands, Canada. McNALLY, Mark WWI Mark, son of James McNally and Adelaide Harrington, served in the First World War from April 23, 1918 to July, 1919, attached to the 17th Canadian Reserve.
