Military Service Recognition Book Volume VII 488 ONTARIO COMMAND YOUNG, Ernest Edward Ernest was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario on March 1, 1898. He worked at the local shoe factory when he enlisted with the Army on February 23, 1916. Ernest service unit was Oxford’s Own 168th Battalion, CEF. While serving in France with the 2nd Battalion, he and eight comrades were killed on March 29, 1918 by the same explosive shell during the time of the German Spring Offensive of March 21 to July 18, 1918. YOUNG, William Alexander William was born on February 23, 1890 in Tobermory, Ontario. He enlisted on December 29, 1915 with the Army during World War I and served with the 160th Battalion CEF in England and France. William was wounded at Canal du Nord, France. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Tobermory Branch 290 and passed in 1936. YOUNG, Frank Bernard Frank was born on September 19, 1924 in Richmond Hill to Ambrose and Edith Young. He had nine siblings: Percy, Evelyn, Ella, Walter, Harold, Edna, Ethel, Elva and Eleanor. He attended McConaghy School in Richmond Hill. Frank joined the Army duringWorldWar II on September 21, 1942 and was a Private with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps. He was shipped overseas and was able to meet up with two older brothers who were also serving in the war effort. Frank was involved in the Liberation of Holland and he delivered food and supplies. On discharge from the war on March 25, 1946, he returned to Aurora and married Betty. They had six children: Jane, Barbara, Francee, Linda, Cindy and Steven. He worked as a letter carrier for Canada Post and enjoyed playing golf, billiards, bridge and bid euchre. Frank was also co-founder and coach of the Aurora Co-ops Girls Softball Team. He was a member of The Royal Canadian LegionAurora Branch 385. Frank passed away on November 4, 2018 at 94 years of age and is buried in the Aurora Cemetery.
