491 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SCOTT, Henry B. Henry was born in Haileybury, Ontario on August 6, 1912. He enlisted in the Queen’s Own Rifles on May 22, 1942 and later transferred to Brockville Rifles. He served in the Caribbean area during World War II. He was discharged on May 13, 1946. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and acting RSM prior to discharge. After his discharge, Henry butchered in Toronto until 1950 and moved to Wawa where he did kitchen work, then transferred to security with Algoma Ore Division. He was a member of Wawa Legion Branch 429 for 55 years. Henry passed away on January 27, 2005. SCOTT, Jeffrey F. “Jeff” Jeff was born in St. John’s Newfoundland on December 31, 1955. He enrolled in the Canadian Forces on November 8, 1974 and served with the Royal Canadian Navy as a cook. He completed recruit training at CFRS Cornwallis, NS and his trades training at CFB Borden, ON. Jeff served onboard east coast ships such as HMCS Assiniboine, HMCS Athabaskan and HMCS Nipigon. His shore postings included CFB Halifax, CFB Gander Newfoundland, CFB Gagetown NB, CFS Mill Cove NS and CFB Kingston ON. His service in special duty areas were three tours of Egypt and one in the Golan Heights Israel. His medals include the SSM (NATO), Canadian Peacekeeping Medal, UN Emergency Force (Egypt/Sinai), UN Disengagement Observation Force Golan Heights, UN Emergency Force Middle East, and the Canadian Forces Decoration. After completing over 22 years, he was honourably discharged on January 20, 1997 at the rank of Master Seaman. SCOTT, Howard James “Scotty” Howard was born in Hazeldean, Ontario on September 17, 1933. He joined the Canadian Army in April 1952. He received his basic training in Longueil, Montreal, and then transferred to Shilo, Manitoba for a paratrooper course which he failed. This was followed by a store man’s course after which he was posted to the 40th Infantry workshop in Petawawa. From there, he was sent to Korea and at the conclusion of his Korean tour, Scotty returned to Kingston. He later did a tour in Germany. Scotty returned to civilian life in October 1957. Howard has been a member of Westboro Legion Branch 480 for three years.
