Military Service Recognition Book 504 ONTARIO COMMAND WINCH, Howard Howard was born in Paisley, Ontario on January 4, 1927. He enlisted in the Army on September 7, 1944 while he was underage at the age of seventeen and was caught. His father was already serving overseas. Due to his age, he remained in the service in Canada only where he served as a Private with the Canadian Infantry Corps during World War II. Although he longed to serve with his comrades overseas, his age restricted him to duties in Canada. He was discharged on November 22, 1945. Howard is a member of the Harry Brown V.C. Legion Branch 497. WISMER, Orland T. C. Orland was born in Gordon Township on November 21, 1919. He enlisted in the Army in February of 1943 and served in Canada, England, Belgium and the Netherlands with the Lincoln and Wellington Regiment during World War II. He was discharged in 1946. He was a founding member of Legion Branch 514 and was a member for 65 years. Orland passed away on May 4, 2013. WINDUSS, Frank Frank was born in Hull, England on October 24, 1897. Frank enlisted in World War I at the age of 16 on August 16, 1915 in Chelsea, England with the Royal Army Medical Corps. He was discharged in 1919, serving 3 years and 257 days. He immigrated to Canada in the early 1920’s. He then enlisted with the 7th Calvary Field Ambulance Corps and served from October 21, 1923 to September 18, 1932. Frank then took a job at the post office as a Clerk until he was called to active duty during World War II on August 5, 1941 and served until May 30, 1946. He served with the Army Medical Corps, WO2, CSM. When he returned from his tour, he went back to being a postal worker. Frank was a Life Member of Legion Branch 322 before he passed away on January 20, 1982.
