459 www.on.legion.ca ONTARIO COMMAND SMITH, Ronald F. Ronald was born on January 9, 1950 in Owen Sound, ON. He enlisted in the Army on July 28, 1966. He enrolled in the last intake of the Soldier Apprentice Program from 1966 to 1968. During his career, he served in Kingston, Borden, Germany, Calgary, Winnipeg, Goosebay, Sioux Lookout and North Bay. After retiring, he was a member of the Grey and Simcoe Foresters and 700 Comm Sqds as a Reservist. He went on to a second career with Ontario Hydro and Bruce Power where he was employed at Bruce Nuclear in Thunder Bay, ON and Darlington from January of 1990 to February of 2013. SMITH, Thomas Thomas was born on April 1, 1891 in Teeswater, Ontario. He enlisted in the Army on March 20, 1916. He served with the Canadian Infantry Central Ontario Regiment 59 Battalion in France during World War I. Before he went to service, he was a lumberman in Widdifield Township near North Bay. Thomas was killed in action on November 26, 1917 in Ypres Salient. SMITH, Ross Ross was born on August 5, 1917 in Widdifield Township near North Bay, ON. He spent most of his Army career on the east coast in the Anti-Aircraft Corp guarding the coast like the Halifax Harbour. The last year he was transferred back to Ontario where he was a cook at Malton. After his discharge on August 10, 1946, he worked as a labourer at a factory in Chesley. He married and had four children, one girl and three boys. Ross passed away on February 11, 1994.
