He joined the 15th Battalion and 96th Regiment from Saskatoon in 1915 and was killed in action on September 1, 1918, just two months before Armistice. DODSWORTH, George WWI George was born in 1894. He joined the 27th City of Winnipeg Battalion and was killed in action in Belgium in 1917. DUPONT, Lawrence J. A. WWI Lawrence was born in Fort Alexander, Manitoba, on November 20, 1896. He enlisted with the Canadian Expeditionary Force at Camp Hughes, Carberry, Manitoba, on October 12, 1915, shortly after his father, Omer, and brother, Wilbrod. Lawrence was dispatched to the French front with the Fort Garry Horse, where one of his brothers was reported to be involved in the “Last Cavalry Charge.” As the story goes, his horse was shot down from under him, which he then used to shield himself from enemy fire, making his escape when all was quiet. Lawrence received his discharge on July 5, 1919, and he returned to the St. Georges area, where relatives remain to this date. He received the British War and Victory Medals and the War service Badge Class “A” #319019. DRIVER, Wesley J. WWI Wesley was born in Golden Valley, Ontario, in 1890. He joined the 1st Depot Battalion on January 16, 1918. No additional information is available.
