LEST WE FORGET 97 GREENIZAN, Isaac Leslie WWII Isaac was born in Kamsack, Saskatchewan on October 27, 1914. He enlisted in the Army on May 28, 1941, and was stationed in Dundurn. Isaac passed away on June 9, 1993. GUNN, John Alexander WWI & PEACETIME John was born in Fort Qu’Appelle, Saskatchewan, on August 21, 1883. He joined the 5th Regiment (Boer War) in April 1902 and was discharged in August 1902. Then he enlisted with the 1st Regiment (CMR) in World War I on October 22, 1914 and was discharged in May 1919, serving in Canada, SA, England, and Belgium. He became a POW on June 2, 1916 (Sanctuary Wood), and a POW in a Germany-forced labour camp. He was then hospitalized in Germany and later in Switzerland, and moved to convalesce on December 9, 1918 in Berkshire, England. He was later owner of Gunn’s Beach and was postmaster in Spirit Lake until his death on August 12, 1947. GRIESE, John Wagner WWII John was born January 2, 1913, in Renfrew Ontario. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1941 to 1945. Initially, he served at the Uplands Airbase near Ottawa and later he was stationed in a medical unit on an Air Force training in Summerside, Prince Edward Island as a medic/ambulance driver and pharmacist. He served there until his discharge in 1945. After the end of World War II, John worked as a pharmacist in Nipawin, Saskatchewan. Eventually, he and his wife Gladys moved to Carrot River and bought the pharmacy there. John passed away on January 17, 1981.
