LEST WE FORGET 87 FLAMEND, John WWI John was born in Muskeg Lake Cree Nation, Saskatchewan and joined the 232nd Battalion of the Canadian Expeditionary Force on June 8, 1916. He was discharged on June 1, 1917. FLEMING, Wallace WWII Wallace Fleming, born in 1914, of Kinistino, was killed in action on January 28, 1945, and is buried at Stonefall cemetery, Harrogate, NorthYorkshire, England. His Lancaster crashed on takeoff from Skipton on Swale on a mission destined never to get to Stuttgart, Germany. Wally was educated at Crompton school and Kinistino and farmed before enlisting in Saskatoon in 1941. He married Jean McMillan (Thompson) of Henribourg (she later moved to Winnipeg) while home on leave in September 1944 after completing his first tour. His brother Douglas Fleming was also killed in action. The boys were the sons of James and Jeannie (Baillie) Fleming who were married in Scotland in 1905 and came to Kinistino to farm six years later. Four brothers, Bruce, Stuart, Gordon and Haig also served in the Royal Canadian Air Force. FLEMING, Douglas WWII Sergeant Douglas Fleming was born in 1915. He killed in action on November 23, 1941 and is buried at Chichester cemetery in West Sussex, England. His spitfire crashed in the sea off the Bognor Regis while returning from operations over France. Douglas worked as an apprentice druggist at Jansens pharmacy and at Unity before enlisting in Saskatoon in late 1940. His brother, Wallace Fleming, was also killed in action. The boys were sons of James and Jeannie (Baillie) Fleming who were married in Glasgow, Scotland in 1905 and came to Kinistino to farm six years later. Four brothers, Bruce, Stewart, Gordon, and Haig, also served in the Royal Canadian Air Force.
