LEST WE FORGET 5 On behalf of Saskatchewan Command of the Royal Canadian Legion I bring greetings and express deepest gratitude to those who have supported and contributed to this the 17th edition of the Military Service Recognition Book. This edition provides names, faces and details of military service of Canadians who served our Country. I am proud to say that this edition is marked with a memorial tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. In this edition, the Royal Canadian Legion, as keepers of Remembrance, also recognize and commemorate the service of the more than 40,000 Canadian Armed Forces members who served in Afghanistan, Canada’s largest military deployment since the 2nd world war. We are proud and thankful for their dedicated service. This book will help future generations to better understand our Veterans and serving members for all they have done and continue to do to uphold peace, freedom, and democracy. I acknowledge the efforts and commitment of Tara Brown who co-ordinated the compilation of submissions for this publication. I extend heartfelt thanks to Fenety Marketing for their continued support in producing this our 17th edition of the Saskatchewan Commands Military Service Recognition Book. Sincerely, Carol Pedersen Provincial President Royal Canadian Legion Saskatchewan Command President’s Message
