LEST WE FORGET 63 BRAGER, Arthur Oliver WWI Arthur was born on August 25, 1895. He enlisted with the Canadian Army during World War I and served until his discharge. BRAUN, David Robert William AFGHANISTAN David was born on August 3, 1979, in Raymore, Saskatchewan where he was raised. He graduated from Raymore School and worked at Westland Rec-Creation in Watson, SK. He was known to give speeches at school when home on leave. He was very passionate about his job and managed to hold the attention of a roomful of children. He realized his dream of joining the armed forces in February 2002. He was a member of the 2nd Battalion of the Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, based in Shilo, Manitoba. Cpl. David Braun died on August 22, 2006, at 27 years old. He was killed in a suicide bomb attack in Kandahar City. His re-supply convoy was rammed by a vehicle loaded with explosives. A resulting fire destroyed two convoy vehicles. Three others were wounded in the attack. His mother, Patricia Elaine Braun has been named the National Silver (Memorial) Cross mother of 2011. He is survived by his mother Patricia, his sister Daina, and brothers Micheal and Chris. He was laid to rest in the Raymore Cemetery. More than 6-hundred people gathered at the local school on August 31, 2006, for his funeral service. BRATTON, Robert Stewart “Bob” WWII Bob was born on September 12, 1917, in Manson, Manitoba. Prior to enlisting, he was a farm laborer in the Willem, Manitoba area, Grade 8 graduate. His father was William Wallis Bratton, and he had three brothers and one sister. His sports included hunting, hockey and baseball. He enlisted on May 31, 1940 in Winnipeg and was attached to the Royal Canadian Artillery, Training Centre as a Gunner. He embarked from Halifax to England in January 1941. He was overseas for 53 months, served with the 1st Canadian Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment and later with the 2nd Canadian Infantry Regiment, Anti-Tank Company. He was located in Italy for eighteen months; France, Holland, Belgium and Germany for five months, with the balance of time in Great Britain. Bob received the 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal with Clasp, War Medal 1939-1945 and Thank You Canada (1995) Holland Liberation Medal. He was honourably discharged on September 21, 1945. He married Kathleen Howard of Miniota, Manitoba in 1946. Bob passed away on April 2, 1964, of natural causes in Wawota, Saskatchewan.
