LEST WE FORGET 365 LEES-DODMAN, E. May “Maisie” Maisie was born in Nuneaton, Warwickshire, England. She married Morley Raymond Dodman, a gunner with 5th Field Regiment, in England in 1945. She departed Liverpool in 1945 on the Letitia. She then travelled from Halifax to Lucky Lake, Saskatchewan by train. In October 1946, the Canadian Ladies Auxiliary was formed in Lucky Lake and Maisie, along with several other ladies, were the first members. She belonged for ten years until they moved to Regina. She belongs to Regina Ladies Auxiliary 001. Recently, Maisie received her fifty-year pin and with ten years in Lucky Lake makes sixty years in the Ladies Auxiliary. THORPE (HILL), Beatrice Amy Beatrice was born in Westerlands, East Lavington, England on November 13, 1923. She married Patrick Harold Thorpe on June 9, 1945. She came to Canada on July 26, 1946 on the Queen Mary ship arriving in Halifax on July 29, 1946. She then took the train to West Bend, Saskatchewan with a little girl beside her to a little house in the middle of land in West Bend. Beatrice passed away on September 15, 2013. War Brides
