LEST WE FORGET 363 YOUNG, Jeffrey J. RCMP Jeffrey was born on December 19, 1961, in Sweetsburg, Quebec. His postings include: Training in Montreal, Quebec from 1982 to February 1983 and in Regina, Saskatchewan from February 1983 to August 1983; Protective Control Operations in Ottawa, Ontario from August 1983 to June 1985; General Duty Policing in Carnduff, Saskatchewan from July 1985 to July 1990; Southend, Saskatchewan from July 1990 to July 1993 and Swift Current from July 1993 to January 1995; General Investigation Section in Swift Current from January 1995 to August 1996; Forensic Identification Services in Swift Current from August 1996 to June 1997; Terrace, BC from June 1997 to April 1999; Dawson Creek, BC from April 1999 to June 2002; and North Battleford, Saskatchewan from June 2002 to October 2005; Reginal Forensic Identification Support Services – BPA in Edmonton, Alberta from October 2002 to July 2006; National Forensic Identification Support Services – National CBRNE Training Canadian Emergency Management College in Ottawa, Ontario from July 2006 to November 2010; National Forensic Identification Support Services – National CBRNE Response Team – Forensics in Ottawa until his discharge. He served with ‘C’ Division in Quebec, ‘A’ Division in Ontario, ‘F’ Division in Saskatchewan, ‘E’ Division in British Columbia, ‘K’ Division in Alberta and HQ in Ottawa. ZENUK, Samuel WWII Samuel was born in Kitchen, Saskatchewan, on December 16, 1922. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 and served in England. He was discharged on June 10, 1945. He received the 1939-1945 Star, Defence Medal, and Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He married Lena Bloski and raised four children while farming in Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan. Samuel had been a member of the Porcupine Plain Branch of The Royal Canadian Legion for 35 years before he passed away on April 5, 1980. YOUNG, John Edmond “Jack” WWII Jack was born on April 10, 1919, on the family homestead in Stonehenge, Saskatchewan. He attended the local country school and finished high school in Assiniboia and took up farming with his brother George. Jack joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment and took basic training in Regina in 1942. He was in Headquarters and his typing was not good so they sent him to British Columbia to take a typing course. He was in Nanaimo, BC and Weyburn, Dundurn, and Regina, Saskatchewan. He then went overseas and was in the Airdrome Defence and the Oxford Rifle Infantry. He served both in England and Holland, returning to Canada in 1945. After the war, he continued to farm for several years. He was married and they had two boys and two girls. They retired to Assiniboia and enjoyed dancing, golfing, and travelling. Jack passed away on January 1, 2021, at the age of 101. He is buried at Mount Hope Cemetery in Assiniboia.
