LEST WE FORGET 347 WILKINS, Theodore Charles WWII Theodore was born in Darmody, Saskatchewan, on September 3, 1925. He enlisted at HMCS Queens in Regina as an ordinary seaman and trained in Regina and Esquimalt, British Columbia. His 18th birthday was spent standing watch of the Clyde coast of Scotland. In November 1943, he was drafted to HMCS Protector in Sydney, Nova Scotia, where he got his first ship, the HMCS Drummondville, escorting the ferry from Port aux Basque, Nova Scotia, to Sydney, Nova Scotia, and was off the Normandy coast on D-Day and was promoted to acting able seaman. The last ship that he sailed on was the HMCS New Liskeard and was discharged on November 7, 1945 at HMCS Queens in Regina. Theodore passed away on July 18, 2006 and received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the 1939-1945 Atlantic Star. He always regretted leaving the Navy. WILLFORD, Dwight Joy WWI &WWII Dwight was born in 1896 in Garvin, Minnesota. He joined the South Saskatchewan Regiment during the First World War in August 1916 and was shipped to England in April 1917. He served in England, France, Belgium and Vimy. He rejoined the Army during the Second World War as a Veteran Guard and was stationed at Saskatoon, Elko, Fernie, BC, Medicine Hat and Dundurn. After his discharge, Dwight and his wife lived in Coronach, Saskatchewan, Medicine Hat and Abbottford, BC where he served as Commissionaire and was a Legion member in all three places. Dwight passed away in 1976. WILL, Robert Thedford WWII Robert was born in New Osgoode, Saskatchewan, on April 2, 1921. He joined the Lord Strathcona Horse Regimental Headquarters as a tank driver and served in Italy, France, Belgium and Holland. He passed away in 2002 and had been a member of the Tisdale Branch 50 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 56 years.
