LEST WE FORGET 337 WARDER, Sydney John WWII Sydney was born in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, in 1921. He joined the Army and served with the Canadian Dental Corps, the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry, the Saskatchewan Light Infantry, the Royal 22nd Regiment, and Royal Canadian Dragoons in Southern England, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He passed away in 1999. WASTELL, Alfred E. WWI Alfred was born in 1882 in England. He enlisted with the Army in 1915 and served with the First Canadian Contingent in England, Germany and France. He was wounded in 1917 in which he lost his hearing permanently. He was a faithful member of The Royal Canadian Legion Tompkins Branch from the time it formed. He attended Legion Conventions as a Delegate all of his life. Alfred passed away in 1976. WARNE, Bennett V. WWII Bennett was born in Driscoll, North Dakota and moved with his family to Pelly in 1926 and then to Winnipeg in 1938. He is the son of Ole and Amy Warne. He joined the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders of Pelly. He was killed in action on August 19, 1942 at Dieppe and is commemorated on the Brookwood Memorial near London, England, for soldiers who died in raids with no known grave.
