LEST WE FORGET 293 SKELLY, Edward Ambrose WWI Edward Ambrose Skelly was born in Alliston, Ontario on March 25, 1895. Like many young men of that time, he moved west and became a farmer. In his case, he farmed near Bounty, Saskatchewan. His parents, Peter and Ellen (Conway) Skelly, lived in Larette, Ontario. At the age of 23, Edward enlisted in Regina on July 2, 1918 with the 1st Depot Battalion of the Saskatchewan Regiment. All of his military service was in Canada. During his service, he was hospitalized for a severe ear infection. He received his discharge papers in Calgary on December 6, 1918, because of “reduction of the forces.” His plan was to return to Bounty and resume farming. SMITH, David Harold WWII David was born in Conquest, Saskatchewan on December 29, 1909. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force and served as a Leading Aircraftman in Ontario from 1942 to 1945 working on Lancaster and Harvard Aircraft. David received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and War Medal 1939-1945. He was a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion and received the Diamond Jubilee Medal. David passed away on April 9, 1989. SKILNIK, William WWII William was born in West Bend, Saskatchewan, in 1920. He joined the #12 District Depot CASF in Regina on December 28, 1940, and served in the artillery in England, North Africa, Sicily and Canada. He was given a medical discharge on January 29, 1949, in Regina, Saskatchewan. He passed away in 1985.
