LEST WE FORGET 289 SIMMONDS, John Percy WWII John was born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, on October 7, 1922. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1942 as a pilot with 437th Squadron, serving in Bournemouth, South Cerney, Leicester, Croydon, Basingstoke, Brussels and Germany. He was discharged in 1945, and received the War Medal 1939-1945, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and Overseas Medal. After his discharge, he farmed on the family farm. John passed away on June 20, 2001. SIMPSON, James Robert WWII James was born in Loon Lake, Saskatchewan, on January 18, 1925. He enlisted in the 8th RECCE on October 16, 1943, serving in Canada, England and Europe. He was discharged on March 3, 1946, and went back to farming. James passed away on January 17, 2000. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Loch Lake Branch 165 for 42 years. SIMONSON, Alfred Walter WWII Alfred was born in Glenside, Saskatchewan, in 1922. He joined the Signals Corps in the early 1940s and trained at Wainwright, AB, Aldershot, NS, and Nanaimo, BC, and was sent to Jamaica in 1944 as a Peacekeeper. He rode mostly on motorcycles. Alfred passed away in 1994.
