LEST WE FORGET 287 SHORT, Westcott Buckler WWI Westcott was born in Thornhill, Manitoba, on June 7, 1894. He joined the Army serving in England, Belgium and France. He returned home to Winton, Saskatchewan in 1919, and farmed in the Fenton, Saskatchewan area. He passed away in July 1977. SIMMONDS (JONES), Enid May WWII Enid was born in Wales in 1923. She joined the British Air Force WAAF in 1942, and served in the United Kingdom, Gloucester, Compton, Bassett, Pembray, and South Cerney. She returned to farm with her husband, John, at Speers. Enid passed away on May 14, 1999. She was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Speers Branch 116 for 54 years. SILCOX, Harold Clifford WWII Harold was born in Sheddon, Ontario, on February 10, 1912. He enlisted with the Army in March 1940, and served in Canada and England during World War II. He was wounded in the Dieppe Raid on August 19, 1942, and returned to Canada in late October 1942. He was honourably discharged in 1943. Harold had been a member of Carlyle Branch 248 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 34 years before he passed away on November 3, 1980.
