LEST WE FORGET 279 SCOTT, Reginald Bernard WWI Reginald was born in Leeds, England, in 1894. He immigrated to Canada in 1912 and resided in Ontario until the fall of 1913. He enlisted in the Army in 1915, serving in Canada, England and France. He was killed in action in Vimy, France, in April 1917. His name is on the Vimy Memorial and Shellbrook Legion Cenotaph. SHANNON, Irl William “Bobbie” WWII Irl of Birch Hills was killed in action on August 26, 1944, at the age of 23, and is buried at Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in Calvados, France. He was born in Lake Lenore, Saskatchewan, and his parents were William Henry and Grace Arlene Shannon. The family moved to Birch Hills in 1929. He enlisted in World War II and was sent to Britain. He left a young bride in Glasgow, Scotland, when he died. SCOTTON, Joseph William WWII Joseph was born in Yorkshire, England, in 1908. He enlisted in the Army as a gunner in 1940, and served in Canada and the United Kingdom. He was injured in a tank mishap in England, and was released as Sgt. Major in 1946. He received the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. He went back to farming in the Mayfair area. Joseph passed away on April 17, 1991.
