LEST WE FORGET 265 RUSK, Joseph Alexander “Alex” WWI Alex was born in Ravena, Ontario, on October 23, 1890. He was stationed in Moose Jaw, SK, with the 229th Battalion in 1916, where he met Adeline and got married on May 27 of that year. He was transferred to Camp Hughes, where the soldiers were living in tents. Because of the rain, Alex got very sick and was sent home for one month to recover, but when he returned to camp, he was discharged as he still had not recovered. Alex and his wife homesteaded at Belle Plain, SK, and raised seven boys and one girl. Alex passed away in 1964, and Adeline passed away in Kamloops, BC, in 1989. RYBINSKI, Henry (Hieronim) WWII Henry was born in 1914 in Runda, Pomorze, Poland. He took part in the campaign in Poland from September 1 to September 22, 1939, and rejoined the Polish Forces under French command in France on May 1, 1940. He evacuated to the United Kingdom and arrived on June 23, 1940 and came under British Command on July 1, 1940. He served with 1st Polish Armoured Division in the United Kingdom in the United Kingdom from 1940 to 1944 and on the continent from 1944 to 1945 where he took part in the operations in France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He returned to the United Kingdom on August 2, 1945, served with 24th and 25th Supply Coy in the United Kingdom and with the PRC until discharged on emigration to Canada. He received the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star and the Defence Medal. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Melfort Branch 30. Henry passed away on November 16, 2001. RUSSELL, Joseph Vincent WWII Joseph was born in 1920. He enlisted in the Air Force in June 1941, serving in Canada and Germany. He was awarded the Conspicuous Gallantry Medal. He passed away on February 21, 1944 and is buried at Bontenheim Cemetery in Germany.
